Footprint Group was (and continues to be) a rapidly growing organisation who needed help to redevelop their website – and fast! A basic layout had already been designed graphically and had forty pages of content stored as Word documents. Some ideas for workflow had been mapped out but the question was: Could this rather unique layout and design be incorporated into a content management system to allow the website to grow seamlessly in the future? In addition, the Footprint Directors were due to give a major presentation to a large prospective client in 12 days and all the work on the website needed to be completed by then!
Never shy of a challenge, we accepted the specification and got to work straight away. To cope with the requirements, we decided to develop the site from the ground up, using the modular content management system DotNetNuke. The branding logo’s and design templates were manufactured from simple images, and different skin controls were created, which could be turned on or off on each page within CMS. With this completed, we set to work creating the forty pages of content and then linked the relevant pages, resulting in smooth and effective workflow.
Finally, we tested that input forms were working correctly and optimized the site for search engines.
The Footprint Group website went live on day 11, much to the relief of everyone involved and has been very well received.
